Hello, crafty friends!
Today, I have a handmade card that’s bursting with floral charm and just the right amount of inky goodness. If you love rich colours, layered dimension, and a little bit of distressed magic, this one’s for you!
I don’t know about you, but I firmly believe flowers make everything better. Missed a birthday? Flowers. Need to apologise for accidentally eating the last slice of cake? Flowers. Just fancy making something pretty in pretty quick time? Definitely flowers. This card features stunning die-cut blooms in deep reds, contrasted by fresh green leaves and a striking blue vase – because who says floral arrangements need to be boring?
To give the petals that rich, velvety look, I blended inks and added delicate white detailing for a hand-painted feel. And let’s not forget those tiny golden accents – because even flowers deserve a little sparkle!
Layers, Texture and A Touch of Distress
The background features a warm, textured pattern that adds just the right amount of vintage charm. A vellum oval softens the design and frames the bouquet beautifully. Of course, no card is complete without a little Distress Oxide magic, so I reached for my trusty Gathered Twigs ink pad to give everything a slightly aged, well-loved look. (Side note: does anyone else have a slight obsession with Distress Oxides, or is that just me?
A simple “Happy Birthday” sentiment banner anchors the design, while a sprinkling of tiny embellishments adds the perfect touch of elegance. Because let’s be honest – who doesn’t love a bit of extra bling?
I hope this card inspires you to play with colour, texture, and layers in your own creations. Whether you go bold with blooms or take a softer approach, don’t be afraid to experiment – after all, that’s half the fun!
What’s your favourite way to add dimension to a floral card? Let me know in the comments! And as always, happy crafting!
